The Range

Made it to the range today. Shot the pistol from 30 feet for awhile, hitting dead on most of the time. Them move back to 150 feet. Now our targets are 8" iron pigs. All of them, no ducks, deer, or dogs. I thought it strange that our range is the only one I've ever been to the only had one kind of target. Anyway, 30' is about the range this pistol is made to be used at, and its very effective with in this range. At 150' your well outside what I would call Its effective range. I still hit near, within one foot of, the target, But rarely hit it. Our club expert, an old fart that shoots pistols every week, tells me that I'm doing really good to get that close consistently. With fixed iron sights on a pistol I've fired less than 200 times. He noted that if I were trying to shoot a large animal, instead of an 8" target, I would be hitting it. That made me feel better. I'm still going to Wally-World to get more ammo for next week.
